Last Thursday I did something horrible to my back and could hardly walk. Each day it has gotten a little better, but the pain is definitely still there. Friday I could stand up straight and then by Monday I could almost walk normal,  but still with pain. Monday I got a couple new pains in other spots in my back as well. This morning I wasn't as stiff as I have been every morning. I'd really like to get a run in Wed or Thurs, but we'll have to see how it's going. Keep your distance from the Behunin's...we have the injury bug!

Today is the 7th day of this blasted back problem. It gets better each day, but I still can't walk without a little pain and discomfort. I can't imagine trying to run. I'm not sure if I should wait until it's completely gone to start anything or if I should just go for it? I don't want to trigger it again, but I'm sick of sitting around! I'm thinking I'll try a good walk either tonight or tomorrow and see how it feels.

INJURY UPDATE (for me, but hopefully not for future purposes!): No run still. I was feeling a little better each day and hoped to run yesterday, but no way. I went to April Wednesday night and she worked her magic. She said she had never felt such a tight back ever before. (It has been a little painful for about 6 years.) So that sucks. She worked it good though and I was spinning all over the room she was releasing so much crap. When I left there I was  feeling lightheaded, but the back pain was going away already. Too bad I woke up Thursday morning with a whole new piercing pain in the top of my back. So yesterday was bad...I had to leave work so I could come home and lay down and my lower back pain started to increase. Anyway, it wasn't fun! I had drank a ton of water to keep everything moving through the system (6 potty breaks Wed night!) so I don't think that was the problem. I was hoping yesterday that there was just so much done that it had to work itself out and so far this morning (Friday) I just have a little of the lower back pain. I've got an open house at work today, so hopefully that piercing pain doesn't show up!

This really sucks because I didn't run much last week, I won't be running this week, and may not even run next week if it's not feeling good Mon/Tues because I go to girls camp Wed-Sat! Ah!

Well, I'm still not 100%, but I'm feeling a lot better than I have the last week+. I debated last night whether or not I should try a little run this morning and in the end, I decided to hold off another week. My back is definitely not back to normal and running might just kick me back to where I started. I'm at work today, meeting with my new CPA firm all day tomorrow, and then off to girls camp Wed-Sat. I figure I will just get through this week and hopefully not be in too much pain sleeping in a tent! I may try and get in to see April Sat or Mon and start running again next Monday. Let's hope it all works out as planned!

Well I haven't ran for 2 1/2 weeks now and it's been a good 4 weeks since I've gotten in a decent week. I am really going to struggle getting back in to it. We had a long but fun week at girls camp on Cedar Mountain. I was really glad to come home and shower though. Before I left I scheduled a massage with April because I knew I was going to be in a little pain. Glad I did! It was killer though. My back is still hurting, so she wanted to see if there was another tight spot that might be causing the pain. She worked on my shoulders for a minute and mentioned that Logan had come in and that his hamstrings were beyond tight and she couldn't believe he was even walking on them. Then she worked on my hamstrings and said I was giving Logan a run for his money! The funny thing is my hammys never hurt, but she said usually where you hurt isn't the source of the problem. So she killed my hammys and loosened them up a bit and hopefully that will help loosen up my hips and back. Regardless of how I'm feeling, I've GOT to go for a run on Monday. Especially after all the smores I ate at camp! So Monday morning I'm going out and we'll see what happens.

I finally ran today! Just 3 miles but it was so good to get out first thing in the morning. I only felt the pain in my back the first 1/4 of a mile. I also felt my knee during that time, which I somehow hurt yesterday (Clyde thinks I'm falling apart). But after that I was okay except for the fact that I couldn't breathe because I am SO out of shape! It sucks! I ran the 3 miles in 31:04, so 10:21 pace isn't bad, but I could definitely feel the no-exercise for 2.5 weeks! I passed the Holt boys and then saw Clyde on my way back.

Now for a week of work, meetings, and lots of other stuff! April says I need to relax more, but I just don't seem to have time! :)

A little over 4 miles with Cassie this morning in about 46 minutes. OUCH! My back is killin me. Cassie ran to my house at 6 and we did the three miler and then I ran up to Cassie's and back home for another mile. My back started really killin on the way to Cassie's and it's not getting any better. We took it nice and easy, so I'm not sure why it flared up. On top of that, I woke up with sore sore quads, probably from my 3 miler yesterday which is sad. Hopefully I can walk by the end of the day!

Holy pain in my quads! They are beyond sore. I could barely run. What is going on!?! Somehow I made it through the 3 miles, shuffling away! 31:23, 10:27 pace. My back is still feelin it too. It sure felt nice to catch some sprinklers...it's getting pretty hot out in the mornings!

I took yesterday off and I'm glad I did. My quads don't hurt at all today (we'll see about tomorrow). I ran my regular 3 miler and I can tell I've been out of it. I really had to work all the way through and my breathing was especially labored. 30:10 for the run, but it took a lot of work!

I guess I will be "webcasting" our two FRB/SGRC teams during the Wasatch Back Relay.  They will call in times, places, funny stories, etc. so I can post them for everyone. I am WAY bummed I won't be there, especially if they can bring home the golden baton! Good luck guys! I will stay up as late as I can to keep the info coming!

After a late night, I met up with Cassie at 7 for the 5 mile loop. It was slow goin, but that was fine with me. Took us just over an hour with some walk breaks, but we had a good chat and got her done. I'm happy with my "start over" mileage this week. Hopefully I can keep building on it.

The WBR boys are doing good and should take 2nd and 3rd, which is a pretty good showing I'd say. Now for a day of cleaning, napping, working, and hopefully relaxing!

It sure was nice to be home this weekend for the first time in a long time. Glad to have Clyde back too!

I got in a 4 miler with Cassie this morning. I was having some stomach issues before I left (all those girl scout cookies yesterday!) but I didn't feel it at all during the run. Felt really good actually. We took it easy, about 44 minutes total. After I dropped off Cassie (she picks me up, I drop her off for an extra mile) I went up through Escalara to add a bit more to get about 4 in. Now a good week to get some work done!

I went to bed early last night feeling pretty crappy and I woke up several times in the night. So this morning I was not feeling any better. I sat around trying to decide if I'm sick or not and then just decided to go for a run and feel it out. I went 3 and it was pretty tough. But maybe I sweat the sickness out a little. I only stopped once for a walk break during the last mile. 31:57. Hopefully I'm not getting sick! I'm supposed to head up to Park City this weekend for a family reunion.

5 mile loop. Didn't leave until 6:45 so it got pretty hot out. 77 when I got home. I was glad to find a couple sets of sprinklers. The run was hard, but not horrible. Just one minute of walking in the 4th mile. Splits were 10.15/11.32/10.01/10.12/10.04=52:07, 10:25 pace. That second mile always kills me!

Met up with Cassie for a 4 miler to the high school and back this morning. It was a good run. It's nice to have a running buddy! I'm having a solid week for me, so hopefully I can keep it up as we head to Park City for the weekend for my family reunion. The high this weekend is 80! I'm probably going to need a jacket!

I got an email about a 5K in St. George if anyone is interested. www.runforchelsi.com
It's in honor of Chelsi Peterson.

3 miles in Park City. I slept in and it was still not too hot. Ran from our hotel which is up a huge hill down in to town and down a path for a mile and a half and turned around. 15 minutes down, 16:58 back up with a little walk break. My breathing wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Now for a nice couple days of relaxing and hanging out with my dad's side of the family. Clyde plans to hit the mountain all day on his bike, but I plan to hit the pool and the couch!

I stayed up really late last night to become the new Kaylor family Hearts champion (this is serious business...there were several elimination rounds and a traveling trophy with engraved names!). So I slept in and then went to the pool with my cousins to swim and read. When I got back to the room about 1:00, I was debating whether to run or not. I decided to just go get a mile in at the fitness center to hit 20 this week (pathetic but better than nothing). So I ran 1.5 on the treadmill. I have been having lots of fun with family and Clyde has been beating himself up!

3 miles with Cassie this morning. I should have gone 4 by dropping her off, but the lack of sleep and all the junk I ate this weekend caught up with me. I'm dead! So I cut it off at 3 and hopefully I will be able to get through my day! 33:39, 11:13 pace.
